What is a Coil?

A coil is a fundamental component in a vape, often referred to as a vaporizer or burner, located inside the device’s tank. This part is crucial for converting e-juice into vapor and typically consists of materials like Kanthal or Mesh. The coil is spiral-shaped to efficiently heat up and produce vapor.

What is Ohm in Vaping?

Ohm is a unit of resistance in a vape coil. To simplify, ohm is the measure of how much resistance the coil offers against the electrical current. The higher the resistance, the higher the voltage required to achieve the same effect through the coil.

What Does a Coil Do?

A coil is a part of an e-cigarette's tank used to heat up the e-liquid and transform it into vapor. It is made of a thin metal wire, often made from stainless steel, nichrome, or kanthal, and is wrapped around a cotton core.

Which Coil Should You Choose?

The choice of coil is crucial. A coil with low ohm requires more power, gets hotter, and produces more vapor, while a coil with higher ohm requires less power and does not get as hot.

How to Avoid Burning a Vape?

The first thing you should do when you install a new coil or have just received your e-cigarette/tank, is to prime the coil—meaning, moisturize the cotton before use. This ensures that the coil’s cotton is fully moistened before you start vaping.
