Kanthal A1 is a FeCrAl alloy with high resistivity and excellent oxidation resistance, suitable for temperatures up to 1400°C (2550°F). It is commonly used in furnace applications such as heat treatment, glass, steel, ceramics, and electronics industries. Currently, Kanthal A1 is considered the top coil material for e-cigarettes.

The factors influencing resistance are:

• Diameter: Thinner wires (higher gauge number) have higher resistance per foot, while thicker wires (lower gauge number) have lower resistance.
• Length: Longer wires result in higher overall resistance, whereas shorter wires have lower overall resistance.
• Temperature: Increased heat generation by the wire leads to higher resistance.
• Current: The required current (amperage) determines the heating capability of your Kanthal wire.
